Meet Crystal Louey, the model, the wardrobe stylist, and a creative director who’s been following her passions for style since she was a young child. Crystal took her leap into the fashion world around 6 years ago styling her own fashion shoots when booked to model and no stylist was available. This lead to more opportunities for creative direction as her unique style always stood out in the crowd. We can all appreciate someone that truly follows their passion and finds their FLVR, from loving fashion to creating it!
Q: How did you get started in fashion?
A: “I’d say I started getting more into fashion after I started styling all my own photo shoots as a model about 6 years ago. I’ve always loved fashion as a little girl and I’ve always dressed a little bit different than everyone else, but I didn’t have as much confidence as I do now. I am a model, wardrobe stylist, and creative director. I love everything about being behind the scenes as well. I went to fashion design school, so I can learn in depth about fabrics and cuts so that I can create fashion.”
Q: Who are your biggest influences, designer?
A: “My biggest influences are from statement pieces on runways that wows a crowd. A crazy idea to me is a beautiful idea. Whether the crowd hates it or loves it, if it leaves a print on your soul and makes you cringe, that’s what gets my creative juices flowing. My favorite designer is Alexander McQueen. His mood board and creative schemes really influenced my ideas for photo-shoots. The darkness that played with so much passion in his creations was legendary.”
Q: Who is your Icon and where do you draw your inspirations from?
A: “My icon is Rihanna. I love her savage attitude and willingness to explore. She is a trend-setter, although I don’t follow very many trends. I do believe that fashion is my way to express my creativity and who I am as a stylist, so I just wear whatever I feel like, but her attitude is inspiring. The world is my runway and everyday is a fashion show.”
Q: Where is your favorite place to travel for fashion?
A: “My favorite place to travel for fashion is Japan. Everybody has their own ideas of what beautiful is and Japan is not discreet about it at all. In the streets of Harajuku you will see girls wearing costumes and Lolita doll dresses daily. I love that women and men rock their creativity with no shame when it would look crazy anywhere else in the world. Japan is my fashion capital.
