Lori Loughlin’s much-dreaded time in prison has come to an end today, according to TMZ and People. The outlets report that the Fuller House actress was released from Dublin Federal Correctional Institute early this morning after spending nearly two months in the facility. She was two days shy of the length of her original sentence when she was released.
In August, Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison, a $150,000 fine, two years of supervised release, and 100 hours of community service for paying $500,000, along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli, to make it appear that their daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella were rowing team recruits in order to guarantee their admission into the University of Southern California.
The two were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud, money laundering, and bribery in the college admissions cheating scandal; Loughlin pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud as part of a plea agreement. Giannulli was sentenced to five months and is currently serving his prison sentence.
Within days of Loughlin beginning her prison sentence, two sources spoke to Us Weekly about how much the actress was struggling. Loughlin turned herself in on October 30.
One called her a “wreck” behind bars. Another elucidated, saying, “Lori really went into prison strong, she had her faith and the support of her family, but the first few days and road ahead are daunting.”
Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade broke her silence during her mom’s time away, giving her first in-depth interview about the college admission scandal to Red Table Talk. Olivia revealed that she hadn’t spoken to either of her parents since they’ve been in jail.
“It’s been hard,” she said. “I think for anybody, no matter what the situation is, you don’t want to see your parents go to prison. But also I think it’s necessary for us to move on and move forward.”
She added, “I actually haven’t spoken to either of them [since they’ve been in prison]. There’s a quarantine phase, just ’cause of COVID, so I think that is the reason, but I’m not too—I just haven’t heard anything, so I’m just waiting.”
