Beyoncé’s nine-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter is officially a Grammy winner—and she didn’t even have to wait for the official 2021 ceremony to start to get her award. Blue’s category was announced ahead of the evening ceremony. “Congrats Best Music Video winner – ‘BROWN SKIN GIRL’ @Beyonce #BlueIvy @wizkidayo,” the Academy tweeted out this afternoon.

Beyoncé has eight other nominations this evening. Despite having the most nominations of any artist at the show, she declined the invitation to perform at the Grammys—and, seemingly, to even attend the Los Angeles show in person.
Interim Recording Academy CEO and president Harvey Mason Jr. told the Los Angeles Times that Beyoncé opted not to perform tonight. She was very much wanted, though: “It’s unfortunate, because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy,” he said. “We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”
Blue’s category being announced ahead of the show means Blue won’t get to make an acceptance speech for the honor on primetime this time. But there’s a chance Beyoncé could share a photo or clip of Blue on her Instagram or site later to celebrate the win.
Blue is more than a Grammy award-winning musician though. She’s also a talented model who trended on Twitter after photos and video of her modeling in her mother’s Icy Park campaign came out.
Blue’s grandmother Tina Lawson explained that Blue wasn’t originally supposed to be in the shoot, but she knew it could benefit from her addition.
“My Beautiful grandbaby Blue Ivy looking like a little super model in her Ivy Park,” Lawson captioned video of her. “Swing your hair Blue ,!!!!! She inserted herself into this shoot . No she was not supposed to be in it ! She was just hanging out and got dressed and I guess she said “I ‘m not gonna tell you what I could do I’m gonna show you”I love that aggressive spirit My Blue Blue!!!! ❤️”
