#MakeUpMonday – Fenty Beauty

Words by: Alexis White @LadyLex206

“Fenty Beauty was created for everyone: For women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races. I wanted everyone to feel included. That’s the real reason I made this line.” Rarely has both the makeup artist and the consumer community waited with such baited breath for a collection debut quite like we’ve witnessed for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty collection, and for good reason. With such an ambitious mission statement, the world wondered what products would be available from such a fashion icon.

We shouldn’t have worried. Makeup lines typically debut with a paltry 10 foundation shades, typically varying shades of “fair” and possibly one or two shades for deeper-complected sisters that might make you wonder if the designer has ever seen black women (*cough* Marc Jacobs *cough*).

A 40-shade foundation is unheard of. Period. A 40-shade rollout that is available at all doors is like seeing a magical mermaid riding a unicorn sprinkling hundred dollar bills down from the sky. It just does. Not. Happen. Everyone is covered, from the palest of alabasters to the deepest of ebonies and everyone in between, with a satin finish and an affordable price point. The highlighters come in lovely hexagonal compacts with 2 complementary shades, or in her match stix for on-the-go ease. They are creamy yet set and won’t move, even on the oiliest complexions. She has also made customizable options, allowing you to select the shade of concealer, contour and highlight of your choice for only $54. And please, for all things holy, swatch “Trophy Wife”. It will kiss your skin with a silky, solid gold, swath of 24kt goodness.

Rihanna and Fenty beauty has hit it out of the park with this collection. It is beautiful, all-inclusive and affordable. It is exclusively available at Sephora. And, if you go to FentyBeauty.com, you can be added to the email list with exclusives, tips and tricks and new products. It’s been awhile since a new product rollout has made me so excited, and it is going to be a tough act to follow. Kudos to Rihanna and the whole Fenty team for really having a vision for all of us, and providing a collection we can all be proud of.
